911 insurance - crazy prices

I had a quote recently for a 997.2 C2S from confused.com, slightly shocked it was only £233 (£43k value, 47, Yorkshire, 11+ yrs NCB). Nearly £100 less than my E46 M3 - hopefully selling that soon and buying said C2S...
Before you sign up with them, check the excess.
I was insuring my 997 with Classicline because it covered track days.I decided I didn't need track day insurance and had a look around.
Confused were about £100 cheaper than Classicline but my excess from Classicline was (IIRC) £400, the excess from Confused (again IIRC) was £1500.
Decided to stay with Classicline.

Very Daily Mail like "the Lambo hit a stepladder", what, it drove itself into a step ladder did it, take some responsibility FFS !Pip
not sure if the OP purchased a car but since Covid the insurance premiums have rocketed for several reasons, Parts suply delays and parts costs, FCA rulings, business running costs etc
London has become a lawless society with the number of thefts is crazy, i am aware the new headlight units on 911 and taycans are being stolen i heard they were £5,000 for each headlight!! which does not surprise me as a friend was qtd £5k for an audi A3 headlight soem Mercedes are the same crazy price. It does not matter what security you foit to a car the thieves can still take it.
Even though the car is kept in the OP privtae parking it is also when he is driving on the road or parked outside his local supermarket.

If you fancy an eye watering look at the utterly corrupt insurance industry, Mark McCann has 2 videos showing just how ludicrous the tossers can be. If you can put up with his videos that is, but I found them quite informative and shocked (not shocked) at how bad they can be. The regulator is useless and leaves things far too open to interpretation. This is the latest one.

There is a moral to the following story so please bear with me.
My experience this week on getting insurance for a 992 SC.
Monday, gained quote from Adrian Flux verbally at 4:30pm. Explained I was collecting the car on Tuesday. Gentleman on phone gave me a price and asked if I wanted to go ahead on the spot. Said he wanted to ensure the price does not go up overnight, which I thought was a bit strange (and pushy). I said I had another quote coming and would place the order Tuesday. He said he'd call me Tuesday morning to see if I wanted to proceed.
Dead on 7pm that evening I received the written quote via email. It said a start time of 00:00 hrs Tuesday morning. (Written quote states prices are usually valid for 30 days).
Tuesday morning (en-route to collect the car) they didn't call so I called them. Lady answered phone, I said I wanted to go-ahead. She said great, I will just check the price has not changed (since 7pm)...
In the next breath she said, I can see there has been a price change and the quote is now £XXX, which was nearly £1k more!
I said how can that be when the written quote was sent 7pm the day before and they closed at 7pm?
She said it was the underwriters "attitude" to customers who want to insure on the same day and they wouldn't honour the original quote.
She then changed the quote to have a start day of Wednesday and the quote went back down to the original price.
I explained that was not an option as I was 3 hours into the journey to collect the car.
She asked me if I still wanted to go-ahead!
I said I certainly would not insure with a company that operates so unethically.
Call ended.
I was royally Fluxed!
I phoned up the Porsche Centre I was heading to and they were excellent. Offered me 5 days free drive-away insurance and introduced me to Porsche Insurance. Called them en-route. They provided instant 5 days free drive-away insurance and their quote for the year was £600 cheaper than the original Adrian Flux quote, (and nearly £1600 cheaper than the AF 'on the day' price) so I placed the business there and then. By the time I arrived at the OPC, the car was fully insured, sat there waiting for me to drive away!
In the past few years I have insured various cars with Adrian Flux inc. Speciale, F8 Spider and Range Rovers, all with hefty premiums. I was very surprised at the way they handled this transaction and lost this sale and future business.
In stark contrast Porsche Insurance were superb (I think the underwriter is Allianz).
Moral of the story. Shark infested waters, the insurance industry. Be fickle. Get your quote at least 5 days before you need the cover to start and get a price promise. If Adrian Flux are reading this, I hope you take the learnings.

We used Adrian Flux for my daughters first car. Its been an absolute nightmare. They have harassed us constantly, via the app, via text, via email. Its been relentless, my conclusion is that they want their cake and eat it. Theyt are pursuing an almost zero risk policy whilst charging astounding premiums. We leave them in December and I cannot wait. When I contacted them to ask them to back off as we cant keep up with the messages being received, we got a letter 2 days later accusing my daughter of being an Uber driver. She's a full time student and lives with me. We had to sign a statement to say she doesnt have a part time job or drives for Uber.My experience this week on getting insurance for a 992 SC.

Avoid like the plague, I can only imagine the grief they give you when you dare to claim!
