My .1 GT3 featured in a Sam from SeenThroughGlass video, discussing it's 175,000 miles!

Credit to it's previous owners on here, Roger being the hero doing 30-40k a year across Europe!

I've now ticked over 6000 odd myself since November, with plenty more to come... Love the thing!

Great video and a great car! Bravo!!

And Sam ist absolutely spot on. It is all about maintenance. And also heat cycles!
This is what wears an engine: Getting to temperature (cold engine until warmed up makes up for most of the wear and tear on an engine) und getting cold again. Expanding and shrinking of different metals and different parts wears them down.
50 miles of 10 short trips over several days is more wear than a one day, 500 miles trip from Plymouth to Edinburgh.

Well used and well maintained high mileage cars are a great thing. I should know this with my 997.1 C2 @ 210k miles atm tongue out
Much nicer car than a neglected younger, 60k C2S car I have driven recently. That one is on its original everything and the interior was much more worn.

I only see 1 Hartech'ed 997 on ebay. And 1 x 996.
This is up near me:
https://www.gumtree.com/p/porsche/2008-porsche-911...

Would have been all over it but currently looking for a 997 Cabriolet instead of a coupe
Is that really where the market is for a Hartech'd 997.1? That money gets you into a nice 997.2 without the issues or too many miles...
Some people prefer to buy the .1 with all of it's known issues and inherent weaknesses freshly fixed. I think that car is expensive.
The 997.1 is better looking and sounds better too tongue out

There is so much wrong with this car and as such way to expensive! That is a £20k car.

Nice! Out of curiosity, what temp does your oil reach after the passes? Mine usually gets to 110, always worries me a bit...!

110 is quite normal if driven spritely wink

My 2007 C2 manual, one previous owner. Probably changing this autumn, perhaps a 997.2 C4S, but have a few completely different test drives to do to decide.

(Seem to have a rear engined, water cooled, 2wd theme running in our household!).
Lovely!! I'm a sucker for a manual, vanilla c2. I have one myself, so I'm bound to say so wink
Seeing yours I question my choice of having put the 'S's double pipes on it (with an adaptor). I have to say the oval end pipes look really good!
scratchchin I might fit them again after all...

Regarding the perhaps upgrade: A good friend of mine has a low miles 997.2 C4S, although Targa and PDK. While the Targa has his nice sides, I have to be honest that I prefer my older, much higher mileage and much (!) cheaper 997.1 C2...

I'm not the only one who is of the opinion that with 911's, less is often more. driving

PS:

Am I the only one who thinks the 996/7's plain 'Carrera' badge looks best? The more letters and numbers it gets, the more fussy it looks...
Yes, the simple 'turbo' also looks bonkers.

What lucky sod got this - was posted at 5pm last night, sold this morning (crazy market eh) - White 997 GTS with X51 powerkit, short shift manual, and buckets.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202108096...

Just called Strasse and was told that it had already gone and perhaps he sold it too cheap....
Whoooo..... This is nice!!!
I'd go for a bit retro and fit a ducktail; gen 1 rear lights; black rear stone guard film; black Porsche lettering; 18" Fuchs; Pepita (houndstooth) fabric imnserts for those buckets cloud9

White 911's need to be a a bit retro to work, imho

ETA: shame it has no leather dash .... frown

EATA: a right, the GTS' wheels have central hubs ....
But it seems that Fuchs do a classic Fuchs wheel with central hubs, but only in 20"

I wouldn‘t mind the missing SC on a manual car. And I prefer the look without the wart! The new watch (like time telling watch) on the newest 992 is nice tough.
But explaining to your date why you have a watch stuck to your dash that doesn‘t tell the time is a bit …. daft.

And while it is nice to have a sportier throttle map than normal on a everyday car the missus drives too, i prefer my analogue sports car to have just one map.

But like I said before, shame about the missing leather. The 997 really needs it, imho.

All subjective I think a 997 C2S more enjoyable on road than any GT model TBH. Will be next 964 good ones you watch. Won't matter in a few years whether gen 1 or gen 2. Get Baz to 4.0 a C2S and add decent coil overs would be the way I go if just one car. That red C2S above looks so cool imo.
I'm with you on this!

But I'd include the vanilla C2 as the difference becomes more negligible the older they get. If you put coil overs in, it doesn't matter since you most likely ditch the C2S's PASM anyhow.
Slightly bigger brakes aside, in the end it comes down to 0.2l and 30 hp difference. The C2 still is fast enough to be enjoyable and can get the 3.9 treatment as well.

Oh, and halogen headlamps add to the retro charm biggrin

Fake limited edition badges; aftermarket Porsche badges glued badly onto the leather seats; cheap leather floor mats with diamond stitching; cheap after market radio with fake carbon frame; after market subwoofer; after market controlls (for stereo?); HVAC controls "fixed" with cheap carbon tape; further areas covered with the same cheap carbon wrap; after market led rear lights; 20" after market (?) wheels; that number plate; black tints.

As they say, you buy the seller. I'll gladly pass .....

"embossed Porsche logo" rolleyes sure, embossed ...
And then the dealer goes on and highlights this with an extra photograph ....

Then he goes on and writes "CARBON INTERIOR!!!!!" into the ad when it is clearly badly wrapped rolleyes
Also Bose (sorry, I meant BOSE!!!!!!) and "telephone module for PCM" but has after market head unit and subwoofer rolleyes

Pretty sure the "Bose" is a sticker/fake too. The logo is normally at the top of the speaker grille, not down at the bottom near the door bin:

Good luck with the search OP. CF

Lmfao, you are right!!!!

What a sad individual do you have to be to stick fake Bose badges to your Porsche ...

There is a bum for every seat
It would be interesting to know, whether the new buyer keeps it as it is, or if it is the basis for a new build, either a track/race car build, or an individual / retro build à la CSR or like others have done.

It might very well be a good basis for such a project, but way too much work for my ocd to put right. But as ATM said, someone might be happy to drive it like this.

Cocoa is a lovely interior colour!! Probably the nicest 997 interior!

Driver seat is a bit worn, but still acceptable, certainly for the mileage/price.
The "well known lady actress" driver seems to be a fan of Kate Moss wink

Good call! You are right, this might indeed be GT silver! Would make the car all the more special.

PASM can be deleted or upgraded to a more modern controller like DSC https://www.dscsport.com/product/dsc-vplug-n-play/
Video about it on YT here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vfzd8nOPvM

Bilstein also make coilovers and shocks that are PASM compatible. But they also sell PASM delete modules, so you don't get an error code with a passive setup.

A Bilstein B16 DT and a DSC Controller would certainly be a big improvement over stock.
On the other hand, I'm very pleased with my C2 and the passiv sports suspension (-20mm + LSD).

Fantastic! This looks lovely. How was the drive?
What interior do you have? I don’t care much for white on a non GT Porsche, but it is one of my most favourite colour for this gen GT3 cloud9
