I will be viewing a used 992 T this coming weekend. It’s a manual with approx 3k miles on it at an OPC.

Any owner tips for things to look out for? I’ve driven a base Carrera PDK before so have that as a reference.

Regarding the lightweight battery if I was to only use it at weekends would it need to be kept on a trickle charge for optimal longevity and performance?
The trickle charger isn't expensive. If you're close to finalising a deal, I would suggest asking for one to be included. In my opinion, the T model doesn't need much. While I love sunroofs, they go against the essence of the T model. If you prefer features like a sunroof or PDK, you might want to consider a used GTS.

I bought my car used, and I must say, its exceptional specifications really enhance the driving experience. I transitioned from a 991 Gen 2 GTS to a 992 C2S with rear-wheel steering (RWS), and my T model also has RWS. In my opinion, RWS is a valuable feature. Additionally, I have the carbon roof, which looks especially striking in certain colors. Although the carbon roof is quite expensive when ordering a new T, it’s a great option if you can find one used.

Good luck with your T. It's the best road vehicle I've driven, and the manual transmission is truly divine.

Oddly they sold rws as a desirable feature, but then didn’t offer it on the ST model which is the supposed pinnacle of a drivers 911.

I think that’s to keep the weight down? My 991 T didn’t have it and both GT3’s since have and it makes the car far more nimble but I’d be lying if it’s necessary. (Are any options!)

If I was getting a 992 T I’d be very tempted to go for reverse camera and nothing else. Brilliant cars!

I think you have nailed how to spec a T.

I did that, but to be fair it’s the worse reversing camera ever, produces a cartoon like image out of all proportion - not sure if I’m doing so,etching wrong but it’s close to a waste of time.

Agreed it’s rubbish and should be free but still better than nothing when reversing into my tight garage! Also on the 992 you get front sensors which are useful.

An excellent point! Closer to the classic 911 handling traits without it and one less complex system to go wrong. Obviously better for lap times to have it, but on a road car I’m not so sure. RWS would help a bit in a tight car park, but this is hardly a key 911 requirement.

Agreed, i cant understand adding weight and complexity of RWS / PDK / Axle Lift / Burmeister, but then spending 3.5k on a carbon roof to save weight.

If Porsche weren't intent on lining their pockets it would be great to have seen a 992T in a fixed stripped out manual only spec. For me and judging by the prices now for many, the 88 3.2 Club Sport is iconic, available in white, with red wheels and black pin stripe cloth. Pretty much you brought it or you didn't.

Oops I forgot lift! It’s needed depending on your driveway.

Maybe it's changed with the 992.2 release but I thought the Axle Lift option description on the configurator suggested it was recommended when the Sport Design Package (Front Apron at least) was spec-ed.

I can't see that now.

I've not had a need for it in my t, my 718gt4 was regularly unusable without it although it wasn't available.

Big difference in front clearance between a GT4 and Carrera T.

In preparation for test driving a T this weekend that is in an almost ideal spec for me, I’ve been diving into the finance side. I’ve not financed a car in years so when I looked at the best deals I can find the figures are quite alarming.

The best rate on a PCP I can get is 8.9% over 48months with a 23% deposit and a GFV of 47%. I got burned by a BMW PCP deal once and ended up returning the car at the end of the deal. HP looks to be out of the question on the monthlies.

I’m looking at that GFV and thinking I should be well above that after 4 years going on average used prices for rough equivalents. But the amount of interest payable is almost £22k over the 4 years! This car was going to be a long term keeper but even with my ‘man maths’ I’m struggling to commit.

Given the current market I am going to try and reduce that listed price down but this may be a deal breaker

Thats exactly why the market is stagnant at the moment, but bear in mind the whole purpose of the high interest rates is to stifle inflation by discouraging any unnecessary spending - a porsche is in that camp. Just save up a bit more / buy a cheaper car / use equity from your house.

Although this climate does mean buyers are few and far between and there are deals to be had. I picked up a 4.5k mile F Type P450 cab to keep my 992T company and even from a main dealer it was <50% of its new price.

Hows about this Boxster T, love the seat inserts - though the green stitch is a bit random with it.
First I have seen with the numeric stripe decals - wonder why they aren't optioned more.

I quite like that, although I did spec the green stripey interior on my 992 T smile

The seat inserts are lovely
