I specifically asked them about repairs and received a timely return call this morning assuring me that I could use Porsche approved repairers and also that I could have genuine OEM glass in the event of a windscreen claim.
I have not read the small print though.
I was starting to think I was the only one asking, sounds good.I have not read the small print though.
I know people personally in the motor game who are doing insurance work for a living - lovely people, known them for decades but I wouldn't let them paint my wheelie bin.
With Admiral in the event of a claim you can opt for your chosen repairer not theirs BUT they will typically withdraw your right to a courtesy car.
There have been instances where they have requested a contribution if OEM repairs are chosen but this appears to be a common trait across the insurance industry.

Also the more expensive the parts/repair the closer it pushes it to the total loss status which is typically 50-60% of the pre accident market value. There have been instances where they have requested a contribution if OEM repairs are chosen but this appears to be a common trait across the insurance industry.

So the premium is less and what you get is less - you pays your money etc. There have been instances where they have requested a contribution if OEM repairs are chosen but this appears to be a common trait across the insurance industry.

Going through this with Admiral at the moment with my Golf. I asked to use my own repairer (ironically a Porsche indy), and provided them with the (very reasonable) quote. Admiral refused to allow me to use them based on the hourly labour rate of £80ph !There have been instances where they have requested a contribution if OEM repairs are chosen but this appears to be a common trait across the insurance industry.
I ended up using their approved repairer and a simple bumper replacement has taken a month....... Not a great process - I just ran out of energy fighting it.... I haven't seen the total cost of the job yet, but I bet any money it will have been more than the quote from the repairer I wanted to use !
Experiences may be different with higher value cars, and potentially they will allow a higher labour rate, but I'm not sure I would want to be having to deal with Admiral on my Porsche.......
There is no such thing as “cheap” insurance. You pay a lower premium because they pay out less in the event of a claim….Admiral have not reinvented the wheel but they are one of the more profitable car insurers.
Someone sent me this a couple of weeks ago…ironically I am insured with Zurich Private Clients for motor and home insurance. One of the reasons I’m insured with them is that three track days are included in the cover for my GT3, which a lot of insurers won’t do now.

On one hand, that’s great for the Lambo owner.Someone sent me this a couple of weeks ago…ironically I am insured with Zurich Private Clients for motor and home insurance. On the other, it seems that the rest of the insurance customers (Zurich Private Clients) will have to pay more to cover the costs. This partly explains the higher premiums charged by the upmarket insurance companies.

Good job it was terrible weather yesterday - 2 hours getting car insurance quotes. Been with LV multi car for 5 years. Covers the Porsche (981S 2014), 1 yr old Polestar, 13 year old Discovery 4 and 2013 Beetle with 20YO daughter on the policy just for that car. Went from c£2k to £3k. The Porsche being the CHEAPEST to insure. Polestar highest, then the Beetle (due to young driver), LR then the Porsche. Cheaper now to insure the Porsche & Polestar together on one policy; daughter on her own policy (which means she grows NCD); wife on sep policy for the LR with me as a named driver . c£2k doing it this way.

Look on the bright side, next year you get to do it all over again. It seems to me regardless of anything insurers send a renewal with a 60% increase (eg), after a whinge they reduce it to a tiny 30% increase (in line with inflation) and most people take it.
Obviously the clients who tick the auto renew option get shafted for being lazy or too trusting.
I cannot for the life of me think why most insurers are generally so disliked.
The best company by far I have dealt with insurance wise is Lockton - not great at answering the phones but other than that well happy with them.

Electric cars are more expensive from an insurance perspective to fix due to the labour costs and limited skills set. Should have suck to an ICE.I've just renewed my 991.2 GT3 with Zurich Private Clients via Howdens (formerly A-Plan).
Last year 2.5k
This year 2.4k
Guaranteed value, Porsche repair, not garaged, trackday cover included etc
The policy is considerably cheaper if the car is garaged, but that's not possible at the moment.

1 x BEV; 2 x petrol; 2 x diesel - the balance is still in ICE favour. But yes, if you only have 1 car - stick with ICE. With the tax benefits of running a Polestar as a business owner it's a no-brainer as the daily. And it's £150 more a year to insure than the Discovery - which doesn't feel disproportionate as it's probably worth 3 x more than the Disco.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
