My CSL was carbon black-not a great colour, my Z4M Coupe was Ruby Black Metallic and that was utterly, utterly stunning. I actually like my Santorini Black Defender a lot, a nice gold fleck in there.

The problem with black 911s is it really suits the shape but the blacks are pretty crap I guess.
Consider me dubious, unless it was a special order Individual colour ? they were either Silver Grey Metallic (the fastest colour) smile or Sapphire Black metallic.

But yes, Porsche blacks are ultimately "a bit dull".

You're right-Sapphire Black Metallic. I liked it as it sort of hid that it was a CSL (and most folk who didn't know it was a M3 just thought of it as a black 3 series) as I used it as every day transport.

Personally I'm not a fan of black cars, too much drudgery, like driving a hearse.

Given the number of colours available, it's a shame that black is so ubiquitous... It seems to have overtaken white round these parts, then the owners seem to go all a bit "Disaster Area's stunt ship" and black out the lights, all the windows, tint the number plates and add black wheels just to add more blackness.

I wonder if the Interior is a clown show cacophony of colours, or all black, with black on black on black?

Everyone with a car like that thinks they are a gansta drug dealer when they are really a closet goth.

Heel n toe in those giant platformed, chained goth boots is a real skill I'd imagine wink

I’ve got a .1 M030 car in Basalt. Suspension is harsh to say the least and the short shift is a pig until she warms up.

Right road though and she’s awesome. Just a nightmare when cold at 30mph around town on potholed streets.

Definitely no PASM button.

Is she a Unicorn? I don’t know but I saw M030 and had to have her cloud9

A rarer Unicorn would probably be a .1, in yellow, with Aerokit and a 4.1 Hartech…..

This is my flat black over black (extended) leather, no sunroof, no rear wiper, sports pack (LSD, M030, 19” wheels), basically no other options, manual, C2.

A spec that very few people have gone for, but I love it! Unicorn? who cares. I like it and as I’m not selling it doesn’t matter.

I love the flat black, seen here after a detail. Yes it does show everything, but so what… my dream colour would be pts dark olive and should I ever have ‘need’ a full respray, that is what I would go for.

What light do people think basalt black looks best in?

Bright sunshine doesn't seem to flatter it in my eyes.
I think bright direct sunshine suits it as you can see the fleck it in best. Here's some tool with his on a bright day but in the shade...
Mine's Basalt and I think so too, bright sunshine makes it look slightly off-black (if that's a thing), sort of slightly coppery in some ways, but really nice (assuming clean). Shame we don't have much in the way of bright sunshine here laugh

Black wasn't my first choice but when I was looking it's all I could find in the right spec. Annoyingly, except when just washed, dirt makes it look not great. I only have time to wash mine every other week and I drive it daily year-round, so sadly it looks dusty most of the time frown

Sometimes it's so dirty it looks kind of good the other way; I get some comments like good on you for using it etc. If I ever have another I would probably go silver, much as I like some of the bolder colours.

looks good, ok automatic = less personally, and the wheels, hm, not bad but also not the best, ok-ish.
