Ok, strike that, this one is a gem. Another unicorn. If I was in the market, this would be the one for me.

The Gen 2 only came out for the 2009 model year. If that was registered in 2008 it is a very early car. Personally, I would prefer a later one. Which I imagine would be achievable within that price bracket.

In theory yes, but won't find another with such a unicorn spec as that in my opinion.

What makes it unicorn spec? Looks bang average to me unless you get a stiffy over a rear wiper and sunroof missing?

Probably the gloss black paint and sports suspension / LSD.

Design your own unicorn competition.

Black for starters. In my estimations there are less than a ten black (not Basalt) 997 coupes in the UK. No sunroof, PSE, M030 Sports Suspension, no wiper. Try find another, you wont. Total one off.

Basalt aint a great colour (I know I own one) but flat black on this era Porsche is awful. No sunroof and wiper there are many more (possibly in more interesting colours) and suspension and LSDs, anyone who cares about those will want aftermarket better options.

You can ask someone to find another but the amount of people who would want to even care must be vanishingly small. Everyone else would be happier with a 997.2 GTS manual

Sounds similar to mine except 2 years younger, a c4s with sunroof and rear wiper.

As much as I've had enough of black cars, that's no 2 on my list. If things don't work out with my first, then I'll be making enquiries...

Agreed, surely unicorn would have buckets and PCCBs

Oh and lighter wheels

There are plenty with no wiper or sunroof

Query over the suspension, PASM button but ad says MO30

It’s a nice sounding car, but hardly the Holy Grail

These do exist. I've seen a red one for sale which was possibly a press car. Sports Suspension, so no PASM button and LSD. That was a few years ago. And yes buckets and PCCB too.

I'd assume an error in the Ad. Ride height doesn't look low enough so I'd guess standard PASM.

Which is probably preferable IMHO, sports suspension is a bit hard on road and PASM in the sports setting is fine on track.

Having owned both a Basalt black 996 and a gloss black 996, I can say hand on heart, both are ultimately dull colours, which are also a royal pain to keep looking clean and marr/scratch-free if you actually want to drive them, as opposed to polish and admire them in your garage.

It’s a shame Porsche stuck with Basalt black for so long, if they’d made something like BMW’s carbon black metallic or better still BMW’s Ruby Black metallic available, I’m sure it would have been well received.

But let us not also forget that Kitty has a black car fetish, so for him, the car at FGP IS a unicorn spec car.

It was for sale on CC and then Ashgood’s website in September ‘22.

Had to be an ex-Porsche GB demo car with that spec.

My CSL was carbon black-not a great colour, my Z4M Coupe was Ruby Black Metallic and that was utterly, utterly stunning. I actually like my Santorini Black Defender a lot, a nice gold fleck in there.

The problem with black 911s is it really suits the shape but the blacks are pretty crap I guess.

What light do people think basalt black looks best in?

Bright sunshine doesn't seem to flatter it in my eyes.

Mid December, about 6pm.

It's black. Difficult to become to analytical about it. I had a basalt 997 and it was nice enough but boring and, for some reason, people hated me on the road. I had a red one and everyone liked it.

I think bright direct sunshine suits it as you can see the fleck it in best. Here's some tool with his on a bright day but in the shade...

Just looks like flat black in that video to me.
