I think any major flat tyre could spoil a holiday with a sports car with no spare, quite hard to get hold of a 305 19 inch tyre in the back of beyond. I also can't think of many tyre places that you wouldn't be able to get hold of a 1m breaker bar (or shorter one with an additional tube to give leverage) which is all that is required to do a temporary removal and refit of CL wheels. If that was the case and it worries you, bring one along, they cost under £50 for the good quality one that I used to break my CL nuts.
Yeah I get it isn't the end of the world, but travelling across europe and having to take your own massive torque wrench just in case is just plain silly. What benefit do centre locks actually provide on a road car?
I’ll say once again, in an emergency you only need 1m breaker bar and you don’t need grease or massive torque wrench. If really concerned carry a torque multiplier which is similar size to any on board wrench, then any garage can get them off and on.

Hi
That looks like a really nice car.
I have a BMW330ci at the moment that's rather long in the tooth and am thinking of a change.
I was going BMW 435i but I'm not completely sure about this and have been looking Porschewards and getting an older 997 (2006/2007) instead. I'd go with the straight coupe; tiptronic and basically a standard spec.
Does anyone have any experience with BMW's and Porsche to compare; I've been BMW for the last 32 years but in this case I'm just not sure. Compare and contrast?

Yep. I have an e36 M3 and have owned an e46 M3 and driven a 330 ci. All great cars and not massively slower in a straight line than the Porsche. However, the Porsche is 'special' and is offersbmuch more than the bhp suggests. Absolutely fantastic traction, head turning looks and the sound with PSE, or some cheap exhaust mods is intoxicating. If you want automstrtech to a PDK car late 2008 onwards. You'll probably be aware that some gen 1 suffer with engine issues and the tiptronic are said to suffer more.

E90/92 M3 different ballpark to the E46 M3. Does anyone have any experience with BMW's and Porsche to compare; I've been BMW for the last 32 years but in this case I'm just not sure. Compare and contrast?
Last of the line na V8 seious engine with benefits of hydraulic steering. Serious performance and beautiful balance, particularly the saloon non carbon roof which has better set up than the coupe.
As rapid and almost as involving as a 408 bhp 997GTS on the right roads.
Good value too.
I’ve owned a 330ci for years and tried a 435 but ended up getting a 997.2. Trust me it’s in a different league. You need to try one. I have kept the 330 as a run around as it’s only worth a couple of grand. The 911 is fantastic I plan to keep it for years. Only downside is road noise if that really bothers you and the stereo isn’t very good (and I have the Bose)
Out of the box the V8 M needs considerable fettling to make the most of the engine. One of my driving cronies has invested about 10k in his, brakes, coilovers and other bits and it's now a different car. Previously I was driving away from him in my fettled e36 m3 albeit on challenging twisties. That's not the case now. I haven't had any seat time in one but regularly drive out with m cars and porsches and I'd question whether the e92 is in a different league to the e46. Imo.
