Some details:

- 525hp
- Single-mass flywheel
- €292K
- 1380kg with full tank
- No rear axle steering
Now I am sticking my neck out ...

Vs.

-- 425hp
-- single mass flywheel
-- £80+k
--1425kg with full tank
-- No rear axle steering

A modified GT4 and many other modified GT3's up to 997 Gen2 ... no OPC baggage and these will be used.

And all manual.

???? Or just silly ????

Yep.

Surprised they removed RWS. After saying on 991R… why would they take performance away.. when everyone asked why it still had it. AP said at the time taking it away made it worse and handle like a pig.

Things move on yes… but changed the tune now. Again! Lol.
Same thing happened with PDK / manual, didn't it? At launch of 991.1 GT3 AP said of PDK, "this is not marketing, it's my own inner conviction, that it's more fun and it's more involving than a manual."

https://youtu.be/ECATvlRf3ls?t=156

And then when the manual returned in the 991.2 he said, "I would say the manual is the driver's fun car if you're not looking for the last tenth. It really qualifies for that new found niche with the R of the driver's car that lets you do something."

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-germancars/and...

So, that's PDK more fun and involving and manual more fun and involving. Nice! hehe

To be fair, he is one of the good guys and it's impossible to be in his position and not fall foul of this kind of thing. He simply has to put a uniformly positive spin on the product. But nothing he says in public should be taken entirely at face value. He's got a job to do.

Doubtless a very good car but I cannot work up any enthusiasm for it; I had the same feeling about the 911R.

I will be interested if any of them ever appear on a track, and if they don't there would appear to be very limited opportunities to unlock the performance ( apart for the fabled country back roads at 70MPH I suppose)

Can't wait for the latest hype explanation of why removing rws now makes the car far better......
It's a 992.1 runout so maybe they checked out the back and found they don't have 1963 rear steer assemblies left over.

How to look a prized dick, drive on the road with race numbers on yer hot steed ffs.

I bet it will be a nice car to drive with a proper gearbox rather than a nanny auto.

I have looked at the instagram release, the amount of negative comments about supply, porsche should truly be ashamed of what is going on and negative feedback, they clearly dont care and purchase is by invite only.

Loving the carbon fibre roll cage

Edited by rkwm1 on Tuesday 1st August 20:01
Wouldn't a carbon fibre roll cage be worse than the Matter aluminium ones that had to be replaced on the 944 Turbo Cup club racers back in the 1980"s ??

One strike and it would shatter ?

If so, this is surely style over substance .....

The carbon cage is only designed to protect when it gets flipped

When they released the 991.2 AP said that owners should not attempt to fit a SMFW…can’t remember why but he explained why one wouldn’t be a good idea. Wonder what’s changed (given the engine is pretty similar) other than the need to fit one for marketing reasons ?

It's changed because they're now offering one. You know how AP works, it's the same situation as the manual gearbox wink

SMFW is the best mod you can make to a manual car IMHO.

AFAIR it was due to the crankshaft design of 2 vs 1.
