Hi,

I’ve spent two years away from a 911 and about to pull the trigger on a 992 Turbo S.

I’m getting quotes of £5k plus now.
I live in London but my car is kept in my private garage at night. License for 18 years, 12 years NCB etc.

Does anyone have recommendations of companies with sensible prices on 911?

The only one offered a more reasonable price for me was Admiral.

Admiral quoted nearly £7k.

A few years ago it was £1/£2k.

Wow.

I just ran a search, 2022 Carrera S manual, cheapest price is £3,600 with Sheila which I wouldn't entertain.

Otherwise, £7k

I'm currently insuring a Macan and a 330d plus home insurance for £1,500

Admiral insure my new 992 Carrera S for approx £800. I used one of the insurance price comparison websites, Admiral was the lowest cost well known insurance company. But I’ve held my driving licence for a very long time, huge NCB, live in the Midlands, car garaged.

I was surprised to find some insurance companies I’d used before (LV, Direct Line) wouldn’t offer cover at all, due to the high value. I guess now values are in six figures, it’s starting to get into a specialist market. Maybe try a broker?

Are you in any of the owners clubs and tried their recommended insurers - Locktons for example?

Any reasons you would specifically attract higher costs, points/claims etc?

I've got 5 cars at home. Most of the insurance for each has gone up around 40%. Massive rise - its gonna hit the second hand ca market, especially with rises on mortgage payments coming down the pipeline.

A huge number of factors are going to impact on the cost of car ownership - Insurance, Fuel, Finance Rates, Servicing, Depreciation, Congestion Charges ……… not to mention the state of our grid-locked roads.

And, with the other escalating lifestyle costs, more people, especially in urban areas, are electing not to own a car, and that is likely to be a future trend.

Cost of repairs has gone up a lot apparently and with the issues with parts delivery lots of expense on courtesy cars etc….some body shops charge storage whilst a car is waiting for repair too.

Think they’re taking the piss though…£7k seems huge !

Wow, that's a bit crazy. Can't all be down to location?

I'm paying £3k for 911 Turbo S, Taycan Turbo S and an X5, gated driveway overnight in the North West. No claims/points and still quite a bit younger than 40 and I thought that was extreme.

Apparently some insurance companies are refusing to insure RR,s in London due to thefts.
All car insurance has shot up., cheaoest i can get for my renewal at the moment is the £800 compared to £510 last year.

It's through Aviva Private Clients

Try speaking with First Point brokers who should be able to provide some competitive quotes. Unfortunately being London based will make things more challenging given thefts in recent times.

I'm also with Aviva Private Clients via A-Plan, c £4.5k pa for the GT3 and RS4 with the former in an underground car park and both with trackers, fringe zone 1 London, so it doesn't sound out of the ordinary for how things are atm I'm afraid.

I notice they've put a caveat on the 'you can drive other people's cars' clause to limit the value to £75k which I think is new as well

£7k seems nuts

For our 2007 997 Turbo, for me and my wife (both wrong side of 50) full NCB and no accidents, in a good postcode, its £300 pa. Mileage is limited to 5k pa and we have 5 other cars.

For higher value supercars I've gone through Airsports Insurance Bureau (AIB) and they saved me money relative to the regular consumer direct car insurance quotations that I was getting. I'm not using them currently as I have a sub £100k car that the usual brands are used to insuring.

I'll have to check my documents, not that I often drive other peoples cars over that value with the exception of my business partners Taycan. Having said that, we could probably argue it's dropped below that over the last few months!
