Get a Ka.

Fun to drive, cheap to run.

Or do what I did ten years ago and run a bubble Micra for a year. Then I moved up to a Pug 306 1.6

Word homes.

You clearly have no idea how insurance works. I'd suggest reading about how it works, so that you'll understand how silly the question is.

Station, innit.

Have a look at a Skoda Fabia. Insurance group 2 iirc

Throw a couple adults on as named driver (Women tend to bring it down the most, mum etc)
Pass Plus
Lower mileage (Obviously depends on how much you will be driving)
Park it on your 'driveway' etc
High excess

My first year, own policy etc was £1400 with Quinn.. Though I have a feeling they've got dearer.

What you WANT is a car you can afford to insure. Start from there and see where it takes you.. smile

I hate to be frank, but you are very, very unlikely to find insurance for less than £2500 when you are 17, end of.17 year olds like you, and me, pose a massive insurance risk simply because we are young and very inexperienced, so to be honest the prices are justified as all the insurance companies have to go on is our age.

Anyway, welcome to PistonHeads. Although, I would suggest improving your grammar and punctuation, some people here are very picky about it. wink

I though parking on the street was now considered cheaper due to insurance computer being a bit st

You'll never get insured on a Golf at that age. Either that, or you'll be paying absolutely loads for it.

If you want something quick or desirable, keep dreaming. Insurers won't touch you with a barge pole. Too many young lads have went before you with similar aspirations, except when they were insured they crashed and cost the insurer loads of cash. Now they're just unwilling to take that chance again.

You'd be better off going for something like a Micra, or a small car you would expect an old woman to drive that hasn't had a lot of attention from young drivers. Grovel to the insurers and you might get an offer of less than £2000.

My insurance when I was 17 was £260 fully comp, unlimited miles. smile

Morris Minor
Owners club
Owners club insurance deal.
Job jobbed.

Most owners clubs for classics have some sort of insurance deal.
You don't build up an official "no claims discount", but if you stick with the same company, they will often give you a year's NCB for staying loyal to them.

A Morris Minor will get you way more sex than a 1.4 Golf. yes

And to the OP, the most intense ride you'll be having anytime soon will be on a bus, because the insurance market is seemingly fked now. Even the old classic car trick seems to be on the way out, as more and more companies are refusing to give classic insurance to under 25's?

rightly so imo, talk about giving away your own advantages on here, everyone suggests a classic on classic insurance for the youngsters just passing now. sure enough more classics will be crashed and the premiums for them all will go up.
