Just had a conversation with an old friend about which cars you see broke down alot. i used to do some ridiculous mileage at my last job and the cars i kept seeing at the side of the road were always peugoets and bmw's which really doesn't tally with the statistics (the bmw is out of kilter i mean).

Must of seen about 6 of them broken down this weekend. Bit unerving, as I have a 106 at the moment :'(

I always seem to see a disproportionate number of BMWs broken down at the side of the motorway. I guess it's just because the number of BMWs on the motorway is rather higher than on other roads because they're mostly used by reps covering huge mileages.

No, just your perception of the BMW is out of kilter. Your observations are actually bang on with the stats wink

I can't remember the last time I saw a BMW broken down. Parked up taking a telephne call of having a Pi$$ maybe although i guess they could have been broken down.

It's Renaults that I see all the time. My wife and I play spot the broken down renault. The aim of the game being to spot the number of broken down cars that are Renaults before you see a none Renault.

Our record was 12 Renaults and the next car was a Peugeot!

As least they are comfortable to wait in. I used to love my Laguna (and it never broke down).

I had a day the other week where I saw the what must be the breakdown spotters' equivalent to a royal flush - I saw a Renault Scenic, and MGF, and Alfa 156 and a TVR Chimaera at the side of the road all in my 20 mile commute!

Mk4 TDI Golfs.

Usually because the owners are either clueless idiots who don't service them, or clueless idiots who tune the ste out of them and don't service them.

Mainly BMW's lately.

Eta: Sorry, forgot about Land Rovers (mainly Discoverys) there are so many of them they just look like street furniture now.

French cars...

I saw a Volvo two weeks ago on the hard shoulder of the A1(M) with the hazards on, I was horrified until I saw the driver having a P155 in the bushes just off the carriageway

Astons. In the last two weeks I have seen 3 on the hard shoulder with hazards on. Considering the rarity it's a lot to see broken down.
