Well the first one fits the description of a disabled parking space. The second one seems more like it's disabled the road.

Well the first one, guess its outside the house, but why on the pavement?. 2nd one, can't believe they could be so stupid.

Obviously they were.

Interesting, one comment left was "Does no council in Scotland inspect the work after it is completed?"

The answer is NO. Some years ago in Aberdeen, they made single carriageway into 3 lanes, giving one lane as a bus lane on one side only, good idea, except the solid line preventing car drivers going the other way over take by moving into the oncoming lane, was the wrong side of a blind bend.

It meant you could move out to an empty oncoming lane approaching a left hand blind bend. I wrote to them and they said something like "We open the carriageway first, then carry out a safety check", about 6 months later, they changed the lines. Plonkers.

First one is crazy, second one doesn't seem as bad, although the drivers need to surrender their license and go buy some common sense!

Why has she been ASKING for a disabled space, why is it on the pavement and which workers are going to be sacked from the contractors?

More likely the painters knew damn well but are not happy with the planners (managers) so they painted it where the planners told them to.

edit. added managers

You have to ask - it's not offered ever. Pavement may be the only appropriately near bit of parking - they won't do it if it leaves less than something like 1.2 or 1.5m clear space for pedestrians.

but with that width of pavement they are hardly going to have a problem getting out of their car are they???

Proof, if it were needed, that being retarded is a pre-requisite for local Council employment.

How ironic.

The cars in this picture are both parked a good foot from the kerb, if they parked sensibly people could pass.

But I bet the two of them will religiously park there regardless of how much hassle they cause, even if there is bags of room 10 ft down the road as it hardly looks busy.

The first one reminds me of the similarly stupid cycle lane in Bedford which is about four yards long, has two posts in the middle of it, and then just blankly stops in the middle of the pavement.

As has been said, I recon it is the fault of the person who drew the plans for the first pic. The workers only did what they were told afterall hehe

Heres another:

Enfield council did similar, they painted a disabled space next to a traffic island so when the car parked it blocked one side of the road rolleyes
Next one was i came out one morning and they had painted one arround my car ? it was for the woman next door but rather than paint it in the empty bay they painted it in the full one.
Last but not least me Mum asked for one, they painted it 200 yards away on the main road cos they said they couldn't paint one on our housing estate cos it was a housing assosiation not council, next day they painted the omne around my car and i live on the same estate laugh

Indeedy, but the bay may be needed for other reasons eg to ensure that the person is able to park close enough to their house, to ensure access to a dropped kerb or if they have a vehicle with a lift or ramp like mine you have to do something to keep enough room free behind it as the vast majority of the General Public seem to be totally unable to read and take heed of a 6x10" "please leave 8ft" sticker on the back, leaving me unable to get into the bloody van... furious
