Starting with a budget of circa £50K will see me in a 4.3 Vantage, 4.2 Maser GT, possibly a DB9. Don`t want manual or Porsche Tip`. So, as a daily drive??.......all views and recommendations welcome, thanks.

If you can get a DB9 within budget that's what I would go for - stunning car.

If you include your 1998 Mercedes C240 Elegance as a part exchange you could get this DB9wink

911 is an excellent daily, the gearbox is a bit nicer than the Aston and plus it will actually work on a cold wet frosty Monday morning.

Well yes, but he said he doesn't want one. confused

I'd probably go for the Aston out of those two, unless you want to be able to carry more than one other adult.

DB9- great car but not for daily commuting just a bit to wide for average parking spaces, without getting it damaged , tried and failed got scratches.
to prove it - The Massa Gt masses of power keeping it straight hard work - that leaves just the Aston - friend has the Vantage 4.3 uses it every day has no problems, had from new 2006 with 85k on the clock

Do this. I love the idea of a Maserati, but look at that beauty.. I just cannot see how you can justify not buying that! biggrin

If you absolutely must have something really easy to use, then you may downsize it to a Vantage. If you're in doubt, find someone with one of them and ask them to open the taps a little, the noise alone is enough.. hehe

Yep, size has become an issue in my search......it ruled the GTR out. At the other end of the scale, because it`s the daily car I`m also considering the SLK 350, I did say the other end of the scale!!

I would not want to drive a 911 every day. Too much like hard work. I love them, but not for daily use. I prefer something more armchair-like.

He said he didn't what the Tiptronic (which I can understand) But 50k (ish) should put him in a PDK 911 and thats a different animal.

Worth testing all 3 IMHO.

I had a similiar decision when I got my 911 it was a choice of the 3, but as it was going to be a daily driver sense won out in the end. (Still want a GT though)
