Well I went down to my mate's garage the other day to do some work on the Passat and this was sat on a ramp. There for a fuel leak and a service I think.

Now you don't see many of these on the road nowadays. 26,000mls from new and must never have seen rain or else it'd have rotted away in a fortnight.

It's a lad's first car after passing his test that his grandad has given him. Now I know we all have to start somewhere etc. but I doubt he'll get a year's NCB before it's a lump of oxide beside the road.
It's a minter (if these words can be used to discribe a Talbot Samba) and best of British to the lad.
Anyway thought I'd post it up for the "Oooo my mum had one of those" crew.

To be honest, it should be saved if only for the heritage - 26k?

Not a turd in the day either.

I like it, great first car. Given the choice between that or the average seven year old Polo or Corsa, I'd choose beige! Far more interesting.

I agree that it should be saved but I doubt it will be (note it'd rained).
Regarding it being a turd... well maybe not at the time but it was the last of the older British cars that was soon out dated by the Metro and Civic etc.

I'd have rather had the Lotus Horizon biggrin

P.s just noticed the Talbot mudflaps too. Probably near enough as it came out of the dealers.

Because they are wonky?

It's nostalgic, but still a turd. I wouldn't.

Kill all Talbots and pretend it never happened.

Classy beige dash! Something to be said of cars of that age - if you can find parts then fixing them is a lot easier than modern turds with all the electronic wizardry and egrs etc

I don't think it's a turd, would love to have a crack at something like this as my next 'holiday' car when I'm back in the UK. Beats a boring rental anyday with the chance of free motoring for 6 weeks.

This is the universal PH answer to all these time warp hatchbacks that appear on the site.

My mates very first car was a Talbot something or other. It was larger than this and allegedly RWD with a 2 litre engine transplant. Which all sounds good except it was ugly and toffee brown inside and out. Still, it did shift!

Ooooo - my mum had one of those. It was her first ever new car and she was dead proud of it.

you can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter.
