I have just been having a browse through the classifieds as you do and have found my old car listed for sale.....its rather odd seeing something that you viewed as your P&J just a few weeks ago plastered over the internet.

The other thing is they don't seem to have removed the PH sticker, cleaned the yellow body paint of the interior passenger door trim or fixed the scuff on the back bumper. On that basis i doubt they will have done the grinding disks and pads on the front and back, cam shaft sensor or injectors either.

Has anybody ever found their old motor online? Would you have it back?

I bought back my first car after a year apart and my second car has just come up for sale with a Porsche dealer. I sold her about 3 years ago. I was happy to know she was still in good shape.

Old cars are like old birds, you always feel a degree of ownership and resent the new 'owner'.

Surely when the advert expires, so will the link?

Anyway, it's never happened to me, but then I don't tend to look for the same year, model and make as the one I just sold.

I was a bit upset when my old car wasn't showing up on one of the tax or insurance databases, probably been written off or stolen...

fair point on the link, but as people add links to their cars surely the thread will evolve over time

Yeah, i didn't even notice that. It is probably better than the worn through mats that were in there though

They did the body inspections, the pads and disks were just starting to grind so its up to them to check and they had every opportunity to drive it around the block. It did pass through the auction 3 days after i collected the new one, so it wasn't the dealer that took the part ex.

Is it on for quite a lot more than you got for it as well (assuming you px'd?).

That's the worst part.

Yeah, i got 5k for it and had 85k on the clock not the 80k stated on the advert. Thats probably to try and keep under the search criteria though.

Wish i could find one of my old cars (Well my OH's). Want to buy it back, as she loved the car and regrets getting rid of it.

Not quite the same, but we bought a 54 reg KA brand new for £4995 in December 04. Then we part exchanged it for a Focus in Sept 09. We got £2k for it. A week later, it was on the forecourt for........£3995! (I suspect they failed to get that for it!)

I was a bit taken a back to find my old car had become shed of the week, particularly as I had rather shamefully sold it off to a guy who planned to break it!

I hope its still providing good service and cheap thrills to somebody.
