What's the damage?
Discussion
Not having a fantastic morning this morning, all starting with when driver's door was caught by the wind when i was getting out in the staff carpark where i work and left a nice little scrape down the passenger side door of an 59 plate XC90.
It's left about 10 tiny little scratches, about a couple of cm long and across about 2 inches of paint work from top to bottom, don't look deep at all.
Any ideas on what the damage will be, my car appears to absolutely fine, presumably because it caught my car right on the edge. Any ideas on cost of sorting out the XC90 though?

£2500 for a new door skin and half respray if it's metallic paint.
...seriously?

T-Cut? £9.99
Has it dinted the door, or just fecked the paint?
Good on you for being honest and (presumably) reporting it to the owner!
If it's just the paint, speak to someone like chips-away
It appears it's just scraped the paint, the only way i could tell was that it removed a huge amount of dirt from the door so there was a clean patch right in the centre of the door that was a bit scraped. I did run my finger down the scrapes and couldn't feel anything there and didn't notice that it had dented the door at all.Has it dinted the door, or just fecked the paint?

I've left a note under the wiper and spoke to the receptionist who has a list of a lot of the reg plates and who they belong to but this one car appears to be the only one that's missing from said list.

That's how much the bodyshop charged my insurance company to repair a dink in the back door of my old Astra. Very nearly wrote it off (it was 6 years old at the time).
That's excessive. My Astra was written off with a £2300 quote for a door skin, a rear 3 quarter, fitting, paint etc at a Mercedes main agent.
if it ain't dented then any smart repair will sort it for less than 100 quid.

That looks worse because of the muck IMO, I would put money on T-Cut getting rid of most of that, then a good polish.
Of course the owner may want a full respray etc, depends how nice they are....
Tcut on metallic paint? I don't think soOf course the owner may want a full respray etc, depends how nice they are....
You may never hear from them so cross your fingers!
I once came back to the car to find a "sorry" note saying someone had damaged my daily snotter. To be honest I don't take care of it externally (yesterday was first wash since September). I just sent the person a text saying they can relax and forget about it, the car has far worse scrapes on it already.
The next day I got a call from a detailer who had been paid up front by the other party for a full-on £100 detail. I used it on the Mrs' '5 instead.

Why not? I wasn't aware that you couldn't use polish on metallic paint?
I think you need Tcut Metallic for metallic paint rather than the standard stuff.Haven't heard anything from the owner as yet, car wasnt there when I finished so not sure what's going on. I've left a note and the receptionist is aware so will wait and see if I hear anything.
