Tyre Manufacture Date
Discussion
Hi everyone, I've recently bought 4 new ContiSport Contact 3 tyres and the manufacture week stamped on the sidewall of the rear tyres says “0211”. Which is obviously the second week in 2011, however i only got these tyres fitted on the 20th January 2011 – can they really go from being manufactured to being fitted within a matter of a week?! The fronts say “4710” which means they’ve been around for about 3 months, which is about what i was expecting?
Any advice welcome!

Takes 3 days for tyres to come from Germany if ordered from Mytyres. Why wouldn't a popular tyre make it from factory to rim in a week or so? I'm sure Continental want tyres out the door, not sitting on shelves for months.
I had Bridgestones that were a little over a month old when fitted, and they were made in Japan...

I just thought 10 days or so was a very small amount of time for them to be manufactured, Quality Controlled, shipped to the wholesaler in the UK, then sent to the garage that i bought them from. If it makes any difference, they are "MO" tyres, so not exactly their best sellers. I had Bridgestones that were a little over a month old when fitted, and they were made in Japan...

Every other tyre that i've ever bought has been about 2-3 months old when i've got it, and my fronts which i bought at the same time as my rears (and are a much more popular size than the rears) are over 2 months old.Basically, i'm just worried that i have somehow managed to acquire fake/counterfeit tyres.

Being a less used tyre probably means they were shipped straight from Continental to your garage. The dizzy would probably have just placed the order. Saves a lot of time.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
