Is it unusual to have your car recalled 4 times in the first 14 months of ownership? I've just had another Safety recall on a Volvo XC60, this time 'fuel dilution' causing the engine to keep running on, or worse, keep accelerating.
My favourite part is how the line 'if your car is careering out of control' has been translated into 'if an unwanted increase in engine speed is experienced...'
Anyway, four times, I've never had one safety recall on Fords, VW, Porsche, Audi? Have I been lucky?
Or should I have bought a better car...

Not sure but to hazard a guess. I'd blame Toyota/USA.

Recalls are quite common but in my experience they are mostly dealt with at the next routine service visit and should cause no inconvenience to the owner.

I've been booking in XC60's for this recall note all day. As somebody else has stated a lot of it is down to the Toyota issue and every manufacturer is becoming uber cautious with regards to recalls. The fact of the matter is multiple recalls are not uncommon and shouldn't be seen as an indicator of a bad car, be more worried if there is a known recurrent fault and the manufacturer DON'T do anything about it.
