m reg 2.8e cabriolet,roof problems.

ive recently swopped my pajero for a bmw 523i and a audi 2.8 cabriolet mreg, the cabby is fantastic the only problem being that the roof cover wont release when i press the button on the drivers door pillar, i can flick both catches by hand and push the roof in then shut cover, also is the roof meant to be manual or is it on a motor or hydraulics, once i release the roof from the windscreen a light comes on on the dashboard, and this light flashes when i press the cover release button on the door pillar, anyone able to give ma ideas much apreciated.
