Can anybody recommend some good performance brake pads?

They are for a SAAB 9-3 HOT aero and i just want to get a bit more performance from the brakes. The car is just my daily driver so not after competition stuff or anything extreme.

Ferodo DS2500's have been mentioned but at £120 for fronts seems a bit too expensive for a daily snotter.

I had green stuff pads all round on the corrado which were good but dont know if they are still any good as it was a while ago i did those.

What about red stuff pads? Too extreme for a daily driver?

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks

Ferodo DS2500's wasnt impressed with them, only lasted 1500 miles. 1 track day and a few hoons, looking for something a bit tougher, fine for a road cruises though

What do you mean by "a bit more performance"?

Are you saying the brakes aren't sufficiently powerful to lock the wheels or trigger the antilock?

Are you saying the brakes fade? During road driving?

It might be a lot cheaper and easier just to push the pedal a bit harder.

I'd just get some decent new OE stuff, Brembo discs and Saab pads would be good, they worked well together on my 9000.

The breaks certainly stop the car but there isnt much consistancy in the feel when breaking. Also under hard breaking I feel there should be more bite.

The car is by no means driven very hard its just I like to know I am getting the most out of my brakes should I need to use them fully.

I have Axxis pads on my MX-5 at the moment and they are brilliant. They're significantly more powerful than anything I've used in the past (including EBC), but obviously you pay more so would expect them to be.

I don't know how many suppliers they have in the UK - I got mine from 5 Speed

I don't have any stats but I just know that I now laugh in the face of traffic lights when they change to red at the last second biggrin

EBC Yellowstuff. I'd used EBC before, and found them to be a bit pants. Got the new formula Yellows on my Mondeo, and they really are very, very good.

Just been researching this and reading reviews etc. So, just ordered Brembo discs and the new EBC redstuff ceramic pads which are being praised for good cold and hot braking.

WBC Yellow stuff offer great performance for very little money , I e fitted them all round on my coupe for Castle Combe on the 26th.
The initial cold bite is far better than standard and they just get better.

Will report back with how they stand upto my 'enthusiastic' driving style at Castle Combe.

Do Ferodo still do "DS Performance" pads. That's the old DS2000 compound and they were brilliant without being over the top track pads.
