just having a look on the classifeds and saw this

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2455004.htm
2 days old and i thought £3000 seems a bit steep for an R reg with 170k

then I saw this ad....
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2408904.htm
14 days old, sold for £1200 (or probably a grand after a haggle)

All for making a profit if you can, but seriously - at least wait until the first ad gets deleted and that seems like a hell of a mark up!

Call him and ask how long he's had it, since he's selling it to make way for a company car.

Quote - "First to see will drive" - can't remember the last time i bought a car without driving it?? smile

also listed as a 328i - must have been parked in compost for a while...

and says 17,000 miles, before going on to say 170,000 in the text

can't PH ban numpties like that?

I have emailed asking for him to confirm the mileage

Can I please suggest we all do the same - perhaps point him to this thread?

hehe

"Hi - could you confirm the mileage and model please as it seems to be different in the ad.
How long have you owned the car and how many owners has it had?
are you open to offers?
Thanks"

'lets get real, this car is special' - no, you're the special one.

I was going to say don't knock him, he's making a crafty profit, but it's a very poor advert and he sounds like a right twonk.

In the text of the new ad it says 170K miles.

It also says 1998, unlike the old ad (1997) but that's hardly a huge deal.

The more sellers get bored with pissing about with mileage in some misguided belief that someone looking for a car with 60,000 will buy their 170,000 mile car, the better frankly. Sick of trawling through them on PH and Autotader.

Guy has a private mobile number aka one of the ones where if you dial a word in the keyboard it rings their phone and it aint cheap to call from bt landlines either 12 -36p per minute dep on time of day.

What gets me is that he has the cheeck to claim he is selling it due to having a company car the lying bd. Also the fact he cant spell either doesnt help.

I accept its not a big deal, but it annoys me when sellers do this "well, Dec 97, but what difference does it make?". Enough of a difference for you to put the later year!

I used to buy my cars of a mate, and every time I'd get the above.
