Car so much WORSE after Service & MOT
Discussion
Had an annual intermediate service (50k miles) on my Saab 9-3 Conv and an MOT as required.
The service was simple and the MOT passed without a hitch.
So fast forward to 4 days later and my ABS and TC both show errors and now do not actually work.
Took this into the garage and they plugged it in to see there was a wheel bearing/road sensor problem on off-side rear - going to book it in shortly for a fix at £200.
Next day, steering lock doesn't work?!
Since picking the car up nearly a week ago, I noticed the last bit of fuel I had went a bit quick and the mpg dropped from circa 31 to 29 - so I filled up to the brim and have today done a 50 mile round trip on 'A' roads at 50mph (driving like a fanny to try and bump up my mpg) and managed to scrape out a dizy 17.1mpg.
Please people of PH - help me get to the bottom of this!!!!!

The TC and ABS may have been caused by the dyno that they ran the vehicle on? If the vehicle thinks that it's moving i.e. front wheels turning but not the rears then it may log a fault on the rear wheels? Would have thought that this could be cleared by a scan tool though and not come back.
As for your MPG....it could be related to the wheel speeds again - the car doesn't think that it's moving/doing miles and so gives bad miles/gallon ratio?

There is a thread somewhere else on here - have a search - about a Saab with a failed ABS sensor, and it had exactly the same symptoms as you have (warning lights, poor economy etc.) Not sure on the steering lock thing though.
