Car vinyls

What are everyone's opinions on vinyls, how do they compare with a respray are they a good cheaper alternative?

Looking at giving my yellow 250cup a black roof to match the wheels and a couple of black stripes across the front and down the back.

Lol, it was just an idea. I could have asked where to plug the purple neons in that I've mounted under the side skirts.
