Hi all, I have a Porsche Cayenne 4.5 V8 and i have a Noisy Tappet ! It did seem to go for 2 or 3 weeks, but we changed the Spark Plugs as it had a misfire and the Tappet came to life again ! So we tried an Engine Flush and Oil change, but the Tappet is still chattering ! A Mate told me he had heard of an Additive that Porsche do, as they are prone to this ! But i went to the local Main Porsche Dealers and they didn't know of this additive ! Anyone got any advice before we Change the Tappets ? Cheers

First thing to try is to change the oil, with a flushing additive before you drain the old oil.

I have known a few people use it (or at least an older version which is probably the same formulation) not always with much effect, but all the engines are still working umpty thousand miles later anyway, so not a lot to lose smile

BMW hydraulic tappets are a common issue that I get and not once has any additive worked. I don't bother now and haul the offending tappet out and either flush and refit it or replace it.

I've heard, get the engine hot and drop oil. Refill with diesel. Run long enough to circulate diesel and get it hot. Drop diesel. Refill using removed oil, new filter, run till hot. Drop oil. Engine flush. New oil / filter.

Tell us if it works or fks that lovely V8?
