just had a call from my grandparents who on the way back from shoppinh have stopped off at a dealership where they have fallen in love woth a little skoda that they now want to by for my girlfriend!

Which is amazingly kind BUT she has not even seen the car or knows anything about this?!

My problem is, I do not think she will like it. The salesman is being an utter wker by saying if she does not take it then she is a waste of space!

And that they must pay for it right now as someone else is coming in am hours time to have a second drive blah blah etc

what the hell do i do?!

Tactfully explain the sitation to them. Try if you can to be as honest as you can.

That its a lovely lovely gesture, but then can't buy something like that for someone without them knowing about it.

Good luck.

Tell them to tell the salesperson that they just want to check with you & then you get on the phone & read him the riot act for trying to pressurise older people into parting with money under pressure.

There are 10's of thousands of cars for sale - they don't have to buy that one.

personally i'd go down the dealer myself and give the dealer such a fking grilling he'd be stting his teeth.
Pressure selling old timers really fks me off.

i wouldn't buy it whatever the car is, just because of this attitude. Also there will be no-one coming later to test drive. If there was, then he would be pushing them to look at a different car.

What system?

Is it a main dealer or a back-street independent?

How much deposit?

The universal system of putting deposits down on cars. I would imagine it would have to be an internal system within a company to know that someone has put a deposit down, and if this were the case it would be odd that the friend has been refered to as 'in the trade' instead of 'works for the same company/dealership/dealer network' etc etc.

It does make me sound awfully ungrateful I know.

It is the way the Sales man has done it in a way that we really had no choice but to accept, with out even talking to my OH first.

My grandparents are truly amazing with hearts of gold and I really do feel that they were tricked and sneakily forced into buying this car, which unfortunately has left a very bitter taste in ones mouth.

I hope your planning on marrying this girl. Because your grandparents obviously have her down as part of the family.

Grandparents buying girlfriend a car,as in free, as in gift.

Accept it, be grateful, think how many people get something like this, then say thank you.

Not even worth putting up on here to be honest.
