How easy is it to repair a rear heated window ie if some lines don't work etc.

What does it cost is it easier to get a new rear window Do people generally just make do with some not working

You can buy this silver-based (I believe) paint to repair broken lines. I got some when I had the Scirocco and two or three "bars" of the heated screen broke.

However:

a) It's hideously expensive for the tiny amount you get (by weight, it's probably dearer than saffron or unobtanium or something).

b) It's a bugger to apply. The lines are thin, but the brush you get with the stuff is not. Messy.

In the end I gave up and just put up with the fact that I had only a letter-box to look through until the heating kicked in.

Try this before buying a new window - depends on car and reason why it's not working, obviously - http://www.maplin.co.uk/electrically-conductive-si...

There are repair kits that you can get, which you repaint over the broken line if it is along the screen that has broke.

If you do get one of the repair kits use some masking tape to create a line when painting it as its neater and you can make the line almost the same size as the original.

Be sure to pull the masking tape as soon as you finish painting so it will not lift the line you repaired.
