Small world this - just seen my old S4 for sale in the classifieds (dealer) with 6k less miles than it had last weekend when I traded it in!

Do you shop them? if so who to? Bearing in mind that anyone of us could buy it...

Im guessing wound back to nearest the last MOT, which was late October.

My S2000 appeared with a 3k haircut. Unfortunately I had no proof so there was no real point making a fuss.

As to why so little - I'm guessing that dropping the mileage below a significant interval can easily add 1-2% to the value of a car, and it's not checkable/traceable by the buyer as long as there's not been a recent service.

So it's low-risk and (now) cheap to do, for a nice little gain.

Only solution is to write the at-sale mileage on the v5, which I have to confess I didn't do in this instance as it wasn't a private sale.

Does the reduced mileage mean that it will be sold as recently serviced, as opposed to service due soon?
Report it although until it is sold without disclosure of the true mileage no offence has been committed.

Could be a typo, (as asked why only 6k miles?)
But report it.

As the OP said - this is the mileage (or presumably slightly more) of the last MOT which you cant hide from.

Think this might be wrong Rob. It's an offense to mislead and misrepresent even before sale.

Trading standards take this matter quite seriously I believe. Would be worth reporting it to them, it may at least highlight them to the company and observe for any other possibly clocked cars. This won't be the first time the company has done it.

I assume only 6k so doesn't conflict with e.g full service history/ MOT and doesn't seem to good to be true.

That 60k mark seems to be a mental barrier for a lot of people...

I think we should all mail them and ask if the mileage is correct

They could just be the kind of tttish dealer who lies on the advert to get you to go down and look at it. Might not have clocked it at all... Can't really hide the number of previous owners.

From what i can see it only says 60k in the advert headline, there is no photo of the clocks saying 60k - probably just put that in the description 60k instead of 66k to make it sound better on first reading the ad. If thats the case its no big deal is it.
