Blimey, you only gave the might of PH 6 minutes... play nicely...Insurers share policy holder details (I think cancellations are shared in particular), so if you did it many times, they might ask questions.
As you are over 21, have you considered a specialist policy like: http://www.dayinsure.com/carInsurance.aspx
Up to a month at a time, no cancellation fee.

Another (legit) alternative - does anyone else in your household need access to it?
If it genuinely was occasional use, could a relative insure it under their name - might be cheaper than the occasional use/cancellations. And if you kept a log, you should be able to prove against fronting?
