Hi
Im selling a Mini Cooper Diesel car 07 model and Ive had interest from this person.
I know it might be genuine but it just reminds me a little of those Nigerian scam emails. This person has included a phone number and email however I haven't included it in the pasted email ive enclosed.

hi there,

so iv just come across this mini cooper and it looks beautiful! Please could you provide me with more information ie, when MOT is due, full service history etc.

Please could you also send me more pics of the inside, pictures of the back, close ups etc. Im very interested in this car.

Appreciate it! Many thanks,

Rabiya cloudhary

I'd make the photos. It might be the start of a lure but you won't know that until they start asking for reg numbers etc...

If in doubt, get buyer to come see the car.

no harm in sending the requested details, but i would hide any personal details (reg plate etc) and also drive it to a local industrial estate to take photos, you dont want any close photos of where the car might be parked!

Unfortunalty there is to many scum bags in this world, not worth taking any risks imo

But they could ask for Reg numbers for a HPI check.

Sounds quite plausible. Was the information she is asking for not in the original advert? They're the most obvious questions for someone to ask, so just e-mail over the answers.

I did write FSH in the advert which was asked by her. I didnt write how much MOT was left but did say in the advert the next one was free by Mini.

It can't be a scam as it stands, obviously, as it's not asking for anything of value, but it could be a precursor to a scam. No harm in going along with it for now. Although shouldn't that name be Chaudhary?

  • *UPDATE***
I wrote another email saying I would gladly make more photos but it would have to be saturday as im not working. I just then asked where she was based. I got a reply within 5 minutes. Bear in mind Im based in Leeds and my advert does say Yorkshire. Her email was sent via her iphone.

Hi Robert. Thanks for getting back to me quick with that info. So I was wondering if it's possible to actually come to see it this saturday? I'm based in London.

Sent from my iPhone

She said she only has a saturday free. To be fair so do I. Anyone can view my car at anytime but cant I really help working full time monday to friday which means they would need to view it in the dark which I wouldnt want and neither would they. I dont think that would justify a scam.

She doesn't know the exact date no. She just emailed asking for my address so she can plan the journey. I haven't told her my address and just asked her if she knew where pontefract was.

To be fair, you didn't... you said "TLC pack so next year free Mini service" which isn't really the same. Mind you, you also said "Im happy to email more photos of interior, exterior or engine on request" which doesn't seem to be the case either wink

Oops. I really thought id wrote FSH in the advert. Ahh explains why she asked. Ill rectify that now.
She wants my address so she can plug it into my satnav. Does it matter if I give her my address now (ie can anyone scam anything from know this info)?

She's asking to come see it - get it arranged, send some pics etc.

Let her do the HPI/MOT.gov checks on your computer while she is viewing ?

She may show up with cash in hand you never know.

And if she's nice try and slip her a length as well ?

Wow. Paranoia! If it's that much of a concern tell her that you'll confirm availability on Friday and provide the address then; nothing for you to worry about until the weekend then.
