Weekend toy for + everyday barge for ~5k, choices choices...
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I've been looking at changing cars recently, and one option now that I have a garage is having a toy sat in there for a bit of weekend fun and getting something cheaper for the daily commute. 15 miles each way, dual carriageway for 80% so something large and comfortable comes to mind and as long as it can do ~30mpg I'd be happy.
Now the main restriction is budget. Ideally I'd like to spend around £5k, hopefully not a long way off what I would get for the Z3. There is some leeway in this, but not too much as all the spare cash is going into the new house at the mo!
Current idea for the toy is:

Seems like this was really at the bottom of the price range. Ad mentioned it needing a bit of tidying, which I'd be willing to have a go at despite not knowing much at all! I'd love to learn a bit on a car.
And as a daily:

Looks nice and comfy, alot of car for the price.
So PH, I put it to you, the masses. What would you choose and why?

Weekend toy would be an MX5 - 1.8 mk1, perfect combo of handling, simplicity and fun.Daily comfy cruiser would be the 2.5 V6 version of your choice of Alfa 166, loads of car for the money, comfy, good looking and great interior.
