Bit of a stupid question here, but my Dad's been pestering me for a 'PH answer' for a couple of days! Basically, he moved house on Friday and so sent off his driving licence to the DVLA for the address details to be changed. It arrived on the 18th. Thing is, he's also currently in the process of changing his car but the dealer won't let him collect it without proof of his licence due to it being partly paid for with finance. So, has anyone recently changed their address details on their driving licence and how long did the new one take to arrive? The DVLA says up to three weeks, but hopefully it'll be a little faster than that! Thanks.

Took mine nigh on three weeks. Our lass sent hers off at the same time, took 5 days. I sent it off for a change of photo last week, took 2 days. Guess it depends on the backlog, but i would allow at least a week

Had to update the photo on mine a few weeks ago. It took just over a week to get the new one.

I did mine online, took about four days to come through.
Then cut my old one in half along with the photocard and sent it back.
Has he only got the paper version?

I would have thought a phone call to dvla and they will confirm his details for the dealership.

HTH

just to add: after waiting the few mins I had to, to speak to customer services, they were incredibly good and very helpful. Might be worth a call anyway just even for a progress report smile

Regardless of the licence problem, the dealer is being an arse !!

Finance is on the person, whether they have a d/l or not. Proof of person and proof of address is all that is needed. Passport, utility bills etc.

I know, because I just got a new motor in December and my licence still had my old address on it. No problem.

+1. And an endorsement had finally been removed. Quite efficient for the DVLA.
