Usually a programme I will swerve but it's 'Luxury Wheels' Day and they have had a nice Bentley Mulsanne and now an XJS on the show. Worth a watch IMO!

If it was the 308GT4, lovely is not something I'd call the car they did, it certainly wasnt when I looked at it! . . . . .as always with WD, good entertainment(well Ed's bit is at least) but you dont see a fraction of the work they do, in this case, have a look at the state of the lower front wings, sills and door bottoms and then look at them when finished and ask yourself how long / much a lower body restoration on a GT4 is

Porsche 944 turbo to a track car is a relatively good episode as is the E36 M3 Cab.

I enjoy watching it but it annoys me when mike brewer make stupid decisions like selling 4 BBs rs' for 120 quid and some escort coswortg ones for 200

Then they wonder why they can only make 50p profit

I always like the fact that they never add the cost of the labour in that Ed does, because if they did I would imagine that they would always be in negative figures

The "argument" is that labour costs are nil as you would DIY - which is rubbish, some tasks clearly aren't.

However, what they should do is clearly say how many HOURS work it would entail for an inexperienced DIYer and also for someone that knows what they are doing. They can then mention hourly labour rates (£40-£100 for example) so people can guesstimate a real cost.

But most of the episodes are about building cars to their original glory which in a lot of cases would end up costing more than Market value anyway, hence why no one sells restored vehicles at standard price ( except mike brewer )

The M3 without working heated front seats you mean?! Because Mike bought non-electric front seats meaning poor Ed had to swap seat covers over.

My favorite was the lotus episode, cant remember the specifics but to fix something Ed had to take the entire engine out of the car, that made me chuckle

You mean the one where they completely destroyed a near-perfect 944. And then rubbed salt into the wounds by putting ORANGE wheels on it?!

I liked the M3 one though.

The WRX one was amusing. The labour of the clutch change would of been a fair few quid and those racing stripes with their signatures on .

Not seen the WRX one yet. Saw the 840Ci one though. Somehow we've now got the Discovery channel (520) without changing our Sky package and they show the newer ones.

That 944 would have been better left standard - not least because it had full main dealer history.

Me too I re watched the Ferrari one after my post above and at a rough estimate the £160 for odds and sods, was in reality somewhere approaching £2k and the bodywork including labour around £7k

If you get a chance take a look at the 308 episode again, when Ed is "restoring" the lower front valance. The front lower wings appear to have around a qtr inch of filler on them.

The programme works for me......then again I have no mechanical knowledge what so ever and I buy it!
