I'm thinking a weekend in February...But my brief excursion on various rental sites doesn't bring up much aside from the usual dull as dish water econoboxes.

I want something that I can put the damn roof down on & have some fun with...I was thinking maybe a recent Alfa Spider or at a stretch, a Porsche Boxster would be lovely but choice/ideas seem limited?

Anyone have any others ideas/suggestions? I dont mind spending a bit more than "normal" as it's worth it in my own view but the choice seems limited?

Shame I'm short on time or I'd just take the MX5 over with me frown

Where are you going in Portugal?

A lot of the roads that looked interesting on maps in the Algarve were in a terrible state when we went a few years ago - You wouldn't have wanted a nice car (even a rental one, dust, stones, etc will get thrown up at you) there.

Potholes were common (an MX5 would have disappeared in some of them! wink ) and long stretches of road had been torn up and not re-laid. It was not a drivers paradise at all...

We had a Clio and I even blanched at taking that down some roads - Maybe a Range Rover? smile

Anything more exciting than a Megane soft top, and you'll struggle.
Guerin do executive stuff, never seen anything tasty at all at the airport car pickup areas tbh.
We use economycarhire - all-in insurance - but then we usually rent the cheapest 'orriblest smallest estate they do.

I'll be staying just under an hr south away from Porto...Flexible in terms of pick-up location, so say for example picking up the car in Lisbon would work for me smile

But yeah the Airport ranges look plain awful, not really tailored for our kind of "tastes" rolleyes
