2011 is going to be a testing year for Pistonheads. Spiraling petrol prices, insurance prices and VAT increases on everything will make motoring more expensive than least year.

So... are you going to get a more expensive car to run as you can afford it, a cheaper car to run as motoring has got too expensive or has nothing really changed and you are going to keep the same car you had in 2010???

Insurance will go down immensely hopefully, providing I can clinch my 1st year's NCB smile so hopefully get something pretty old school to run alongside, and tinker about with. Going on sticker price, more expensive, but cheaper insurance, but more expensive to run. So no idea where that'd place me biggrin Will be a cheaper year though on the whole smile

Just paid the deposit on a new car today.....astra 1.7 diesel to BMW 335i (double the insurance and 4x the tax but so worth it!).....to say i can't wait till saturday is an understatement!

Considering my friends are in fiesta's etal. and the better ones are in A3's its not too bad for 21!

Figured nobody wants a 10 yearold scoob that does 20 ish! mpg so will keep it as long as possible. Hope my new gearbox lasts more than 4 months this time otherwise I'll scrap it frown only worth 2 grand.

I'm going to upgrade the current car from a pile of parts into a working one.

Seriously trying to resist the urge to upgrade. The replacement would be at least 4 times the value of my current car.

I can afford it, but I don't need it and I am not sure wanting it is enough.

Undecided at the moment, I had planned on getting a few bits done on the Alfa in order to sell it and get an mx5/z3/other but once its back to a better condition I may not want to sell it redface

I need a car, so will be getting a more expensive one than the one I have now. Which is nothing atm.

I'll be switching from one car to one or two cars and a day van. A bit more expensive, but cheaper over the course of a year, and it'll let me save towards something I really want smile

I was originally planning on replacing my KA with an MX-5, but that seems like a very distant goal now.

I'm not changing mine in the foreseeable future as it it is quick enough for me and I get around 40ish to the gallon so it's not too painful at the pumps yet.

I aim to be spending a bit more in a few months. Although since my current car cost £800 it won't be much of an upgrade.............
