What car would you suggest would be the quickest around a typical UK circuit with the following limitations?

1. Under 1800cc
2. N/A
3. Under 10 years old
4. Was available in the UK market
5. 2WD
6. Standard engine spec as sold
7. Saloon or hatchback body style (edit)

Forgot to say - has to be a saloon or hatchback rather than a full on sports car.

An MG ZR 160 might be in with a shout, not as good as a DC2 but still, not a bad car to chuck around... the one I test drove felt very grippy and handled well imo.

Can't see that in the spec - just says 2wd confused

depending on the course, Elise would get my vote.

If it isn't allowed to be an out and out sports car then the MGZR 160 and the ITR would be the only 2 in the running, oh and the Corolla T Sport but they are rubbish.

If you're allowed a turbo then this wins, possibly even over the R500 and any elises.

I've driven a few of the DC2's and can vouch for them... awesome power out of an NA 1.8 and they loved to be revved... handling is just amazing in standard form too!

Now that it can only be a hatch/saloon as well, 106 GTi has to be in with a shout too.

Ford Racing Puma as well.
As much as I like both of these (had a mint 106 GTI for a few years) it doesn't kick it with an ITR... tried many times whilst my mate had his ITR! I had a few mods too and his ITR would still be a lot quicker.

FRP - What a shame they didn't put a decent powered engine in it.

Oh and is the ITR A hatch or a saloon?

This might win.

190 T Sport - Nah... so uninvolving and soft... an ITR would run rings round one.
