Removing private registration before selling car?

There is supposedly a guy coming to buy my car this weekend, but it has just dawned on me that I still have my private registration on the car which I want to keep. I don't have another car to transfer it over to yet so will I have to put it on retention? After a quick search it appears it takes circa 2 weeks. I don't have two weeks, I have 3 days. Is there anyway of fast-tracking the process or any other alternative? The seller is coming from London (to Aberdeen) and he this is apparently the only weekend he can collect the car.

I'd appreciate any help, advice or suggestions recieved as this whole registration malarky is new to me.

I think you can do it quicker if you take the documents to your local DVLA office. You can then swap the plates but it will still take a while for the new V5 to come through I think.
