looking at a car where the current owner has, nicely, indicated she "still has payments owing on it" but "i can sell the vehicle at any point" so wanted to do a thorough HPI before I decide to give her a price.

any indications? Not too fussed about cost as I would rather spend now!

cheers

Experian has always worked well for us. Be wary of "payments left", does she have the funds to clear before you give her your hard earned?

She said she had £1900 left and I will be giving her £1300

Will the HPI show up remaining balance and the company it is with??

you need to be making the payment to the finance company, not her. And you need to be sure the difference is paid too.

thanks for your help guys

used the pistonheads one!

The HPI states "no finance outstanding" can I take to mean the young lady has got a loan and I don't have to worry about that side??

If there's finance still outstanding on the car she needs to pay this off. You then need to contact the finance company to ensure they have no further interest in the car and they'll send you a fax confirming this if you ask. This'll ensure the car is now HPI clear (can take 3 days or so from paying it off to show on a new HPI). If you don't do this you can be liable for the balance remaining on the car.

ETA: We use experian, try them.

Sounds like it - but ask for clarity....
