Has anyone got any experience of how an S40 T5 compares with a Focus ST. Same engine, running gear and they share the same platform. It just wondered whether they were comparable as far as driving dynamics are concerned?

Looking at pictures of the T5, it looks like its set up for comfort rather than sportiness, check the front seats out....sleep

Cheap though

I agree, but these will not hold you in place during a trackday.........

A better comparison would be the ST and the Volvo C30 T5. The C30 would be my preference, as it is less likely to be found in the car park of Maccy D on a Friday night, but isn't much slower.

I've had an S40T5 for 3 years but only a brief test drive of an ST and as another poster said the Volvo is built for comfort rather than as a sports car but is quick enough for me. From what I can remember of the ST it did seem to have sharper handling but much more low rent interior.
Although they are essentially the same engine the ST is in a different car tax band to the T5 so there must be some small differences.

EVO basically said the new hatchback T5 was a turd though, where as general concensous seems to be that the ST is a great car, if a tad nose heavy (and handles like it)

You see S40's in Maccy D's car parks??? confused

The Volvo is a Focus, same suspension, chassis etc, but the volvo interior is far better and it has some big girders on the focus frame to make it stronger in an accident and presumably stiffer, also no boy racer image, cheaper insurance etc!
