A kind of wiki for journeys. So instead of automatically working out a route (although it would do this as well), posers like "Buckingham Palace to Edinburgh Castle" would come up with various people's comments on ways out of London, then the merits of different routes to Scotland, then the Edinburgh portion itself. The clever bit would be how it could splice knowledge like that together on a complex route. Especially useful when there's many ways of skinning the cat.

Edit: You could also post personal best times and have a little competition!

A sort of Wainwright Wiki. Sounds interesting. Possibly difficult to moderate though.

In theory, yes. I think it'd have to be very clever and very comprehensive to work though. And aren't you sort of up against traffic monitoring systems on the new generation sat navs for a lot of it - "the M1 will be busy this time on a Friday night, take the M40..." sort of thing...

You are, but that problem is NP-Complete, so it'll be fine for motorways but not the end bits... and some people have unusual objectives when driving. This could allow that.
