up again a tickle today. Do you think we'll hit $100 a barrel by Friday?

$97, $100, $101. Little difference really. A wk currency and wk taxation policies hardly help us though.

Given the much increased amount of taxation levied on fuel (prices at the pump now are higher than when oil was >$130 a barrel back in late 2008) then another spike in the oil price is going to absolutely knacker many motorists. Given that many people's financial situation is likely to be more precarious, it must be coming to the point where there will be another driver backlash.

Still, if it cuts down on the 'morning 4x4 school run' contingent that clogs the roads, that's some consolation ...

No I think you'll find that people think that driving at 20 mph will help, unless they're on a motorway, then it's 50 mph. I'm seeing this more and more. FFS if they can't even afford the fuel to drive their Hyundai istter the 4 miles to work I think it's time to re evaluate their lives rolleyes.

No it won't. People will still fill up and drive regardless. They will have a good moan about it and stick it on their credit card if things are tight.

What it will knacker is business users, it'll jack up wholesale prices on everything and us lot will have to stand the increase. Guess what, increased wholesale price, increased retail price, increased VAT.

We are being bummed dry on this and there is no 'straw that broke the camels back' the country can't function without oil.

I'm bloody glad I'm only 2.5 miles from work!

I don't see how it matters if parents take the kids to school in a 4x4 or anything else.

Oil is $91.18 as of 12 noon Eastern Time, down 0.36c from yesterday. I can't see it being $100 by Friday unless something catastrophic happens.
I agree with your sentiment but only WTI is $91.18 due to oversupply issues at the contract delivery point. Brent is something like 97.

You've never noticed how much traffic drops off on the morning commute when the schools are off then?

Given the gas-guzzling properties of the sorts of stupid SUVs so commonly seen on school runs I'd be hopeful that it might make them think twice as fuel gets more expensive.

I think you mean businesses?

As a company car driver, I really couldn't give a toss what the price of fuel is, since I'm not paying for it.

it does not matter if you drive a 30mpg range rover 4.4 or a 36mpg fiesta 1.2, it still hurts wink
