99 BMW 318i SE Auto

Hello all.

Friend at work has just bought one of the above with 86,000 miles on the clock (private sale). It's had 5 owners and had larger M Sport wheels fitted, which need some TLC as they are kerbed. It has a problem with the driver's window (it won't go down for some reason), and we have just found a perished pipe on the engine that may be causing problems with the idling.

Is there anything else that my friend should look out for? Has anybody owned one of these cars and had any issues? Are auto boxes of this age reliable?
