As I approached a roundabout in Lane 2, I was aware of a 4x4 fast approaching from behind who then dived into lane 1, sped up and tried to undertake, I continued at the same pace, only for the 4x4 to get caught by slower moving traffic up ahead and trapped betwen the car in front and me in Lane 2. We enter the roundabout side by side then I accelerate up to an indicated 7.3 leptons before putting on cruise control, knowing it was a good few miles to the next roundabout.

Said 4x4, a Ssanyong Rexton approaches, me half expecting him to go past, instead swerves after the AA van I had just over taken and dives into lane 1 behind me leaving half a cars length at most. Every time I move into Lane 2 to overtake someone he does the same then dives in behind me again. This continues for 5 miles or so, at this point I'm starting to wonder what I've done and what he plans to do so I decide to slow down after the next vehicle, I slow to 69mph but again he dives in, so I take my foot off the accelerator as my speed descends to 62. At this point he flashes his lights, puts his foot down and overtakes in a big cloud of smoke.

What would cause someone to drive like this? Bad day at the office? Arguement with the missus?

Didn't want anyone to recognise him driving a Ssanyong Rexton?

pregnant wife giving birth in the passenger seat, late for the most important interview of his life, etc. This is why we have mirrors, so I'd suggest just getting out of the way and letting him get on with it smile

biggrin I guess so, he was a big lad too, not someone you would want to meet down a dark alley.

Look, everyone on the road is an idiot. They all do stupid things all the time and this is never, ever going to change. Until the government invents some sort of electronically controlled asshole filter to replace speed cameras, we're all just going to have to live with the fact that angry imbeciles and over-reactive bumplugs are everywhere.

Do Ssanyong still use Mercedes engines? If they do, I wouldn't worry too much - he'll spend more time on the side of the road or in a replacement car than driving his POS jeep.

I have 3 friends who bought Ssangyong jeeps as a cheap 4x4 for use on farms (they've got rid of them now). They had so many engine problems (one had 3 replacement engines under guarantee) that they had to get rid. The one with the most problems had "powered by Mercedes" in big letters on both sides.

I think Mercedes must have sold Ssanyong all the engines that failed their in-house quality checks.

He had obviously made several very bad decisions in his life which culminated in him driving a Rexton, no wonder he was furious

Mongs indeed - a Jeep's chassis doesn't dissolve over the course of the winter or have an electrical system designed and built by the cast of one flew over the cuckoo's nest.
