I have a punto GT. Its an S reg and is on 140,000 miles it has loads of service history and runs really well. But it needs around £800 of work including about £400 welding. I could get rid of it and get something like a vtr which is cheaper to insure etc but not as fun to drive. I do like the car but would it be a good idea to keep it? opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks smile

VTR is ten times more fun to drive than a Punto.

And surely it's not even worth the amount of money you're talking about spending on repairs?
Well i bought it for £850 so pretty much not worth it but it is a fun car. Im only unsure because i really like the punto.

spent 800 quid on repairing yours, or to buy something for 800 which could potentially need a load more work.

sometimes it's better to stick with the devil that you know? wink

Can you carry out the work yourself? Learn to weld? That might be worthwhile and enjoyable if it is a practical option for you.

Get rid, it might be £400 worth of Welding this year and then another £300 next, get what you can for it on ebay and experience a VTR or similar.

I was going to do the work myself but it needs: welding, Clutch, Timing belts done, few bushes, turbo hooked up to the boost controller, and some other stuff and im not hugely practical. Does anyone know if saxos rust badly?
