The car is a SAAB 9-3 and the battery is on its way out so need replacing.

Had a look at it and never seen this funny inlet/outlet on a battery before.

Where can I get a replacement battery apart from SAAB?

Thanks

That looks like a vent pipe, just in case the battery starts gassing during charging. Typical Saab over-engineering wink

Shouldn't be a problem to fit a standard battery without the vent as it will have appropriate vents elsewhere in the case.

My 911 has that - euro car parts website will tell you what battery to replace it with (I'd go Bosch) from your registration number

Standard after-market battery will be fine. But Bosch doesn't seem to be that good anymore, I've about quite a few warranty returns. Go for Exedy.
