I'm looking for a particular model so looked on the manufacturers used approved website and sure enough a nearby dealer of this large chain was showing a couple, so I dropped them an email at 8am when I got to work (before I got distracted) that simply say "You're showing these two vehicles, do you physically have them there?".

10.30am and nothing so I phoned up and spoke to a chap in sales who didn't know and said he would call me back.

1.30pm and nothing so I called back as I was about to leave for the afternoon so needed to know whether it was worth a detour.

"Hello is XYZ there please?"

"I'm sorry he left for the day at lunchtime"

"Ah I guess he won't be calling me back like he said he would then, perhaps someone else could help me?"

ring ring, ring ring

"Hello yes I'm interested in model XYZ and you're showing a two on the manufacturers used approved website, do you have them on your site to look at please?"

"Oh yes you sent an email this morning didn't you I spotted that. No, I've had to loan one of them to one of my guys and the other one's at a different branch".

Maybe I'm being unduly harsh but piss up and brewery leap to mind. Yes mistakes happen but how does a dealer expect to sell cars when they can't even do the bloody basics right via phone or email when someone makes it crystal clear you have 2 cars that they would like to see?

(Not tarring all dealers, just recounting a frustrating experience that puts you back up from the offset).
