Having been a regular on the Noble forum for a few years, it dawned on me how many owners have modified their cars. This has lead me to think about when is modifying right or wrong. i.e You would be a philistine to mod an original Porsche 356 Speedster by putting in a bike engine would you not? The Speedster was once new or recent and therefore some were probably modified in one way or another. Is it because they are now rare that it would be wrong? Or, was it always wrong because the car was made in small numbers anyway and was well sorted in its day too? Will an unmolested Noble hold its value years down the line when the modded won't? Will it make no difference? Who cares?
I had a Hayabuse bike engine fitted in my old Chesil Speedster because I loved the shape of the 356 but wanted it to shift! If money was no object and I could buy an original, I still would have bought a replica and fitted the bike engine.(Or owned both!)
This is like owning a listed property. You wouldn't fit UPVC double glazing in a Tudor house would you?
Thoughts and comments please!

Your car, your money, your choice.

Others do reserve the right to call you a knob though and you reserve the right to ignore it.

Totally this.

I think there is a still two different types of modding, I do not understand for the life of me why the yuff types like sounds systems and disco type lighting mods to their car at all.

However I have 22 year old sports that I adore and they do not make anything like today, but the interior is a little dated/shabby so I would replace it, and I would love to stick a V6 engine in it, so I like to think of that type of modding as adapting a car to suit my specific spec, which is more acceptable.

Whether either of them two types increases value is subjective.
