Hertz #1 Club Gold --- What a Joke!!
Discussion
So I'm in LA for two nights stopover and like all true PH'ers I'm straight onto the hire car sites to see about fast car.
As a Hertz #1 Gold member (given to me because of my frequent flyer miles with various airlines) I log in and price a V8 vette.
It gives me a price of £358, that then jumps to $397 with a load of other fees at checkout screen.
So I tried a couple of other rental companies such as Avis but they only do V6 Mustangs, nice but this is USA so it has to be a V8.
Back to Hertz site but this time it's timed out so I mistakenly resubmit my enquiry without logging in, price quoted is US$258.69 which goes to $282.20 with taxes or £177.
I entered my details, paid online and that's it.
So virtually half price for 'non' Hertz members....

I always found the main use of it was avoiding the pick-up desk at the car rental desk, particularly in the US at a major airport when the lines could be long. I also got upgraded pretty much every time. However, I'd usually book over the phone, comparing online prices to get the best deal.
