So come on then,

Some people on here must be relying on some miracles to fit there car through their commical garage doors that come with houses these days

Ive got to try fit a 197cm wide car through a 213cm gap later, doesnt sound so bad but im wincing at the thought of only 8cm either side to play with, but im sure theres worse on here

It's the gap down the side of the house that's difficult for me. Easy in the Caterham, tight in the Mustang hehe

I've got a sectional garage door, as it comes down it misses my rear spoiler by around 10mm.

H'apparently my car is 1699 mm wide. I need to get it through about 1750mm. Less than an inch either side.

its an entrance, not a garage

I'm lucky to have a wider/longer/taller garage than your average new-build house. Even the van (5.3m long x 2.0m tall x 1.97m wide) fits in although there's less than 2cm clearance either side when going in/out through the door frame. Loads of space once in though, especially for a new house.

About 6 inches either side of the Elise. Window down, step over door to get out (roof never on).

Car in the garage? Not a hope by the time the lawnmower, Jetski, MTB etc is squeezed in.

I agree with garages being too narrow.

But, you still drive in; and use it?! confused
How do you get out?

You'll have to pardon the scruffy appearence as we've only just moved in!

Granted the Z3 is a pretty small car, but still I think its a decent size garage. Well chuffed we even have a garage on our first house TBH, even more so that its not a tiny one like in new builds. This was built in the 70's smile

Mine is tight. The door is standard size, 2.13 m while the M5 is 2.04 m wide including the mirrors. The length of the garage is no more than 5 cm greater than the car. The DB9 is about 2 cm narrower and 10 cm shorter, so it's an easier fit. The drop down from the garage is onto a steep hill though and the Aston lifts a wheel on the way into the garage because of the limited travel of the sports pack suspension.

I really need to do something about my garage!

I've never tried, but if I did I'd have 8cm either side through the door, 25cm either side once in, 40cm spare lengthwise, I'd have to empty absolutely everything out of it (including the GCH boiler) and crawl out of the boot, and my garage is quite big for a new build compared to that of some neighbours - not bad really as the car is a lardy 4884mm x 2063mm.

In the door easy

To where i work on them a bit harder as the garage is L shaped. So its round the corner and lots and lots of shuffling to get into where the lift point and workbench is.

Out is alot easier. Wife in car with her foot firmly on the brakes. Me in the landrover with a chain onto a back wheel and then spin the back of the car round.

I can't wait for the extension

My girlfriend's house has an old fashioned, very small garage (back from when cars were wee!) and I had the job of parking her dad's new Nissan Qashqai work car in it the day he got it. Wing mirrors folded in, about 2 cm either side of them, and then a brick bottleneck about halfway towards the back of the garage, so you have to go in forwards and then aim the car slightly toward one of the back corners to pop one mirror through the bottleneck, then the next. The garage is on a slight slope too. Finding the biting point of an unfamiliar diesel bus and trying not to scrape the bugger was one of my tenser driving experiences.
