having just bought the CSL last week I used comparethemarket.com to get some insurance quotes, They came out with some good prices so I proceeded to take out a policy
During the course of setting up the policy I mentioned to the guy that at no point had compare the market asked for a value of the car. He said that they went on the net and came up with an average price for the car, fair enough. However when enquiring as to what this was it turned out that they had come up with a value for my car of under 1/2 what i was paying for it and mine was one of the better value cars available.
I guess they just based the value on a standard M3 and he amended the policy to address my concerns without any additional charges but thought I'd give people a heads up as there could be some very under insured cars out there.
