Car stereo going flakey on me
Discussion
I couldn't find a more relevant forum for this thread, so mod's please move if you deem it necessary.
My OEM car stereo has been giving me problems recently - it stated randomly switching itself on / off whilst driving, then progressed to switching itself on /off whilst parked (keys removed from ignition - i.e.somehow changed from ignition live to permanent live) through to today, not switching on / off.
TBH I don't use the stereo that much (much prefer the engine note), however I'm concerned that it could potentially drain the battery if the radio is on for a prolonged period.
I've tried removing the fuse, but it seems that the same fuse covers a number of more important auxiliary items.
I'm fairly sure that the on / off pot is flakey / failed. Is it possible to change the pot only, or am I looking at replacement (which won't be cheap / easy based on the rarity of the vehicle).
Failing that, anyone know a good auto electrician in the Surrey area?

They are a complete ICE place, so do the sales, installations etc. When I took my car in because one of the DVD screens had packed up, they were more than happy to look at a repair (unfortunately, it was FUBARED, so I ended up taking it to the original fitter to replace so that I had a matching pair).
ETA. I'm pretty sure they are called "Bannings".

They do sales, installations and repairs and were really helpful when I had an alarm / immob. problem.
